NORMAL, Ill. (WAND) – Heartland Community College is offering counseling to students, and they do not even have to come to campus to get it.

They have offered distance counseling over the phone for a few years, but now students will be able to video conference using a telemedicine platform to get help.

The school is using the platform developed by Doxy.me which has encrypted security. The counselor and client can see each other without students having to download anything to their computer.

It works like Skype and Facetime, but with more security.

Officials said it is especially good for students with disabilities who may not otherwise be able to make multiple trips to the college campus.
